Alexi is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and joined the group in January 2019. Her current research focus involves investigating the interfacial assembly of proteins, particularly in the presence of surfactants of varying charge and molecular weight, using rheological and surface tension measurements to characterize the resulting films. This project lends itself to versatile applications in pharmaceutics, oil recovery, and the food industry and stems from Alexi’s interest in biological molecules. Funding for this project has been awarded by the Honors College at the University of Oklahoma through the undergraduate research opportunity program (UROP). Alexi was also awarded the Phillips 66 Undergraduate Research Scholarship by the Chemical Engineering department in Spring 2020.
